Merry Christmas!

Polo in South London & Roller Racing on Saturday

It didn’t take long, in fact just over 6 months for South London to catch on. Couple of days ago around 10 people met up in a South London car park to play, I think they were moved on by police but found somewhere else floodlit to get a few games in. This is great news for hard court polo and everyone should get down there to check it out next time they play, which is I don’t know when yet.

On Saturday night expect some action packed roller racing around Waterloo courtesy of Rollapaluza, this is the big xmas party and I’m guessing the last one of the year? Its in association with the LondonFGSS forum and lots of forum goers will be there as well as other, perhaps non-internet people. Sponsorship comes from all corners including Smeear. All the juicy details can be found here but what you need to know is: Saturday 15th December – Waterloo Action Centr, 14 Baylis Road SE1 7AA, 7pm – 2am – £5 in and 2 to race. There’ll be beer, food and music so come down and check it out.

Last thing is about Ryan and his favourite Mercedes. MT has more details, and its pretty outrageous if you read it through, not only does R have to pay for the guy’s windscreen but the driver is not being held responsible for hitting his bike and R has to foot the guy’s bill for his bumper as well. The fund to help him out is nearing its target and t-shirts can now be bought online.

Results from last Friday’s race and report.

Its December

And its the first time I can remember that polo hasn’t really happened. Last Sunday a bunch of people showed up at different times but there was no play. Possibly because mallet numbers are down after a bunch of breakages (get making people!) or perhaps because of the night before? Either way this Saturday everyone will be there, hopefully with some new mallets.

Last Saturday night as the MASH London première at the London FGSS headquarters just off Brick Lane. I only managed to pop in for about half the film and then had to rush off, but for what it was, it was good. Check out other people’s reactions here.

Other people’s photos here and here.

More news on the efforts to help out Ryanwhile some people have asked whether the tshirts are lacking in taste – they have been selling like hot cakes and a fair bit of cash has been raised for him. You can now order the t-shirts online but for those of you in London why not pop down to the John Snow this Friday (7th) for the Italian Job Alleycat, all proceeds from go to the Ryan fund again and no doubt it will be lots of fun – 8:30pm.

While we are on the subject of buying stuff you will be glad to know you can now purchase Smeear’s fine hattish goods in Cavendish Cycles – 136-138 New Cavendish Street W1W 6YD.
